David Staten is a 1973 graduate of Carroll High School and a loyal member of the Bulldog Booster Club. Because of his commitment to meeting the needs of students at Carroll, he has been dubbed Carroll’s hardest working alumnus. He sells tee-shirts, works concessions at athletic events, and solicits Booster Club memberships at every home game. David’s personality radiates throughout the Booster Club as cheerful and cooperative.

David has indicated that he wanted to give back to the high school that helped to contribute to his manhood. David has stated many times that Mr. Morris Henry Carroll taught male students of his era to be men and not just students; to become leaders rather than followers; to be great citizens in the community; and, most of all to learn to take care of their family.

An army veteran, David returned to Monroe where he maintained employment with the Swanson Correctional Center for Youth for more than 22 years. Due to his compassionate approach to client care, he was promoted through the ranks from Juvenile Justice Cadet to Sergeant and later to Master Sergeant. During his tenure at Swanson, David also was recognized as Employee of the Month and Outstanding Correction Officer of the Month.

Davis is a Deacon and Usher at Ludden Chapel Church. He has extended his commitment to the development of youth by initiating a first Saturday Boys Day Out program designed to mentor the young men at his church.

In his free time, David loves to fish, garden, and perform general yard work. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Connie Jackson (Carroll Class of 1974) for over 40 years, and is a loving and devoted father and grandfather.
